Spring G.P.A. Winners Enjoy Breakfast (2019)

On Thursday, May 23, 2019, the Arthur L. Johnson AthleticDepartment held a breakfast in honor of the 2019 Spring Athletics G.P.A.Challenge winners, the Girls’ Track and Field Team Team and the Boys’ TenisTeam. For the first time in the awards history, two teams finished withidentical G.P.A.’s, so both were given the award and enjoyed the ceremonialbreakfast. The event, sponsored by the Athletic Department, was held in theArthur L. Johnson High School Cafeteria.


The Athletic Department at Arthur L. JohnsonHigh School has instituted another honorto present to our student athletes. The CrusaderG.P.A. Challenge will be awarded each season to the team that finishes withthe highest overall G.P.A. amongst athletic teams seasonally. They will bepresented with certificates, have their team memorialized on a plaque, and beinvited for a “Breakfast with the A.D.”to celebrate their actions both in the classrooms and on the fields. The Girls’ Spring Track & Field Team andthe Boys’ Tennis Team finished with a G.P.A. of 4.01. Members of the Girls’Spring Track & Field Team include: Sarah Sceptowski, Gianna Caldiero, GiaColicchio, Carly Tarentino, Julia Kalynchuk, Shailynn Rapp, America Renteria,Gina Rizzuto, Taylor Turek, Jenna Wiese, Paige Kelly, Kayla Kowalenko, andNatalya Torres; Boys’ Tennis Team:Matthew Cassidy, Seth Guzman, John Juzefyk, Jacob Mallik, Anthony Neyra, KylePerednia, Christopher Warnick, Brandon Costa, Raymond Torres, Kyle Briscese,Robert Lukasiewicz, Andy Zheng, Anthony Bogash, Cody Downing, Toan Le, andEthan Nobre.


Arthur L. Johnson High School Athletic Director Gus Kalikas hadthis to say about the G.P.A. Challenge winners from the Spring Season: “The Athletic Department is extremely proudof all the members of the Girls’ Track and Field Team and the Boys’ Tennis Team.The teams were able to balance athletics and academics at the highest level,not only competing in the State Tournament in the spring but also excelling inthe classroom, which is evident by the cumulative G.P.A. of 4.01 that the teamsheld throughout their seasons. They are a model of what it means to be astudent athlete and the Clark School District is proudof all of their accomplishments.”
